Clay is the Chief of Staff and a partner at Lowercase Capital where he works to support our venture portfolio, as well as invest in startups to reboot our democracy, suck carbon out of the atmosphere, cool the planet, and reform our criminal justice system. Clay serves on the board of Tala, a Lowercase portfolio company building a world where people everywhere have financial access, choice, and control. Before joining Lowercase, Clay served as an Executive in Residence at the Pramana Collective, a strategic advisory firm in San Francisco. Previously, he was the Chief of Staff for the White House Office of Digital Strategy, a team tasked by President Obama with connecting people with purpose. In 2017, he was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. At the start of President Obama’s second term, he served as an aide in the Chief of Staff’s office. Before joining the White House, Clay worked on President Obama’s 2008 and 2012 campaigns. He graduated from Harvard in 2011.
Rebecca is the VP of Operations at Lowercase Capital where she focuses on our brand, community, program operations, and works to support our portfolio companies. Before joining Lowercase, Rebecca was the VP of Brand and Community at Slow Ventures and the Founder of MartiniBird, an event strategy and production firm. Rebecca began her career at the Commonwealth Club of California and Trinity Ventures. Her passion for the arts has led Rebecca to serve on the the board of the Hearst Castle Preservation Foundation, SFMoMA’s SECA Committee, and San Francisco Symphony’s Symphonix. She also serves on the Gen. V. Committee of the Bothin Foundation, a grant-making organization that supports organizations serving the needs of low-income, at-risk children, youth, and families. She earned her degrees in Classic Literature and Environmental Science from the University of San Francisco, but her heart is often in Montana where she was raised and became an avid fly-fisherwoman.
Cole is the General Manager at Lowercase Capital where he keeps the foundational elements of Lowercase running, including administration, project management, and supporting our community and brand efforts. Prior to Lowercase, Cole worked at the Sun Valley Center for the Arts managing their Membership program and assisting in fundraising efforts and at architecture firm Hoedemaker Pfeiffer managing administration and operations. Cole graduated from Hunter College with a degree in Emerging Media and Documentary Production. He also studied abroad in France and Vietnam. In his free time, he’s committed to the Jackson Hole community through Watershed Jackson and the Grand Teton Music Festival, and is an avid skier.
